Ms. Engstrom, is the Program Director for CoPIRG’s Energy Service Corps Program, a joint program with AmeriCorps. She helped launch the program in Colorado in 2010, designing the content and developing the organizing model. Under her direction, Energy Service Corps recruited, trained and empowered 150 AmeriCorps members and volunteers to tackle energy inefficiency in their communities in the first year and educated 6,300 K-12 kids on energy conservation and 900 homeowners and renters on ways to save energy through basic energy surveys. Ms. Engstrom coordinates the program at CU Boulder, CU Denver and CU Colorado Springs, Colorado State, University of Northern Colorado, Metropolitan State and the Community College of Denver.
Ms. Engstrom joined CoPIRG in August 2010. Prior to this position Ms. Engstrom served as the chapter chair for the CALPIRG Student’s UC Berkeley Chapter, where she coordinated a campaign to make textbooks more affordable. She also was one of the lead student volunteers around the successful campaign to pass Prop 1A in California, creating the funds to build the nation’s first high speed rail network. She spent her summers coordinating grassroots campaigns in Berkeley and Sacramento working for groups like CALPIRG, Environment California and the Human Rights Campaign. She graduated from UC Berkeley in May of 2010.
